Austin Peay vs. Chattanooga: Notes and Quotes

Austin Peay 70, Chattanooga 67

Notes:

Junior Josh Terry led the Govs in scoring for the second game. Billed as a guard/forward, Terry has yet to attempt a three-pointer.

Junior Tyshwan Edmonson came off the bench to score 14 points. In doing so, he led the Govs in shot attempts and was the third-leading rebounder.

Junior Anthony Campbell scored all 15 of his points in the first half and was limited to only two shot attempts in the second half.

This was the Govs second-straight road win and marked the first time for Austin Peay to open the season 2-0 since the 2002-03 season. The Govs are 7-10 all-time against Chattanooga and it was their first-ever win at McKenzie Arena.

It took until Dec. 9 at Ohio for the Govs to win two road games during the 2009-10 season. The first came at Akron, as part of the Glen Wilkes Classic. Junior John Fraley hit two late free-throws to secure the win at Ohio.

For the second-straight game, the Govs outrebounded their opponent, owning a 44-32 advantage.

Just like at St. Louis, Terry ended the game with a deflection. This time, he tipped away the Mocs desperation heave.

Quotes:

Head coach Dave Loos

"I understand this is our first ever win in this building. Both teams got after it; really got after it on the defensive end. It wasn't pretty, but that's because there was a lot of defense going on out there tonight. They have so much tradition in this program and that's why this win is especially special.

Caleb is a guy who is a defender and distributer. Tonight it came down to one possession and the play didn't turn out the way we drew it up in the huddle. But, it almost never does. Caleb had the poise to do so (hit the shot).

That was a very good basketball team we played tonight and that's why I feel good about winning. There were opportunites for us to pull away, but it wasn't a matter that we couldn't do it; it was a matter that they wouldn't let us."
