Head Coach Dave Loos' post-game quotes:
"We're
glad to get a win. This time of the year there's never a bad one, I've never
met one I didn't like. I thought we did some good things defensively, they shot
35%, but we didn't do much better. I didn't like some of our shot selection - too many runners and
floaters - our shot
quality just wasn't that good.
"We
got on the boards well.
I thought we turned them over more in the second half, which we didn't do in the first half."
Postgame Notes:
- Tyshwan Edmondson opened
the game with a three pointer for the Governors. His next field goal would not
come until 9:33 left in the second half.
- Edmondson finished the
night with 13 points on 3-of-15 shooting. He also had a career-high 11 rebounds
for his third double-double of the season. His last double-double was at Memphis, Dec.
16, 2010, when he had 22 points and 10 rebounds.
- John Fraley recorded his
4th double-double on the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
- After trailing the
entire first half Eastern Illinois would take a brief lead at 36-35 early in
the second half, only to give it back on the Governors next possession. The
Governors led the rest of the way.
- For the first time this
season, the Governors had three players reach double-digits in rebounding,
Edmondson 11, Fraley 10, and Will Triggs 11.
- Josh Terry bounced back
after failing to score against Fairfield scoring 11 points on 5-12 shooting. It
was Terry's first double-digit scoring game since having 17 points against
Murray State, Feb. 5.
- Caleb Brown finished
with14 points and six assists. It was his season's 13th double-digit scoring
game and also the 23rd time he led the Govs in assists. Brown passed Govs great
Trenton Hassell for fourth place on APSU's all-time assists chart with 381.
- Austin Peay held Eastern
Illinois to 34.9 percent from the field. It was the lowest by an opponent since
UT Martin shot 32.7 percent on Feb. 3.
- Eastern Illinois was 5-of-7
from the free-throw line the fewest free-throws made and attempted by an Austin
Peay opponent since Eastern Kentucky was 4-of-6 on January 27th.
- After shooting 46.9
percent (15-of-32) in the first half, Austin Peay made just 27.6 percent in the
second half on 8-of-29 shooting. The 37.7 percent shooting for the game was
their worst shooting performance since shooting 35.6 percent at Tennessee Tech
on January 20.
- Head coach Dave Loos now
has 349 wins as Austin Peay head coach. He will have a chance to earn win No.
