Box Score CLARKSVILLE - Austin Peay State University's baseball team
posted an 11-4 victory against Alabama A&M, Sunday afternoon, in
non-conference action at Raymond C. Hand Park.
Austin Peay (6-3) scored seven runs in the first two innings.
The Govs had all their runs on the board by the end of the fifth to run away
and hide from Alabama A&M (1-9).
Shortstop Reed Harper was 2-for-2 with two doubles and a RBI
before being replaced in the third inning. First baseman John Hogan went
1-for-3 with three RBI, posting a pair of sacrifice flies along with an RBI
single. Second baseman Jordan Hankins was 1-for-1 with a walk and a double to
extend his hit streak to nine games.
Shawn Zabriskie (2-0) was the beneficiary of the early
offensive outburst, picking up the victory after allowing two first-inning
runs. He allowed five hits over five innings and struck out two.
Sanchez Tucker and Eric Brandon each had two hits for the
Bulldogs, Brandon finishing with two RBI.
AAMU starter Joshua Blocker (0-2) suffered the loss after
allowing 11 runs (eight earned) on seven hits and five walks over five innings.
Austin Peay returns to action with a 4 p.m., Tuesday contest
against South Dakota State.
