Post-Game Notes: APSU vs. Youngstown State

Post-Game Notes

  • Saturday's win was the 375th APSU victory for head coach Dave Loos.
  • The win against Youngstown State was APSU's first road victory of 2013-14. The Govs didn't get their first road win of 2012-13 until Feb. 14, 2013 at Eastern Illinois.
  • The Govs are now tied 8-8 in the all-time series with Youngstown State, with APSU having won the last six meetings.
  • This was APSU's first trip to Youngstown State since the Penguins were Ohio Valley Conference members back in the 1987-88 season.
  • The Governors are now 9-17 all-time against current Horizon League members.
  • The contest was the return for the 2012 Sears Backetbuster contest played in Clarksville, also a Governors victory.

  • Chris Horton scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, making it his third double-double this season and 10th of his APSU career.
  • The 88 points scored by the Govs represented a team high. They previously had 84 in the season opener against Oakland City.
  • The 35 field goals made and 58.3 percent (35 of 60) field-goal shooting performance also represented season bests. The Govs shot 52.7 percent in the season opener against Oakland city.
  • The Govs' 20 assists matched their season high initially set against Oakland City.
  • Damarius Smith's 10 assists were the most by a Gov since Caleb Brown had 10 against Chattanooga, Jan. 3, 2011.
  • The Govs attempted a season-low 10 three-point shots against Youngstown State.
  • Finishing with four blocked shots, sophomore Chris Horton now has three or more blocks five times this season and 21 times in his career.
