Postgame Notes: APSU vs. Liberty

  • The win tonight evens the all-time series with Liberty at 1-1. The win also evens the Governors record this season at 5-5.
  • The win tonight snapped a two-game losing streak. It was also the Govs first win in the month of December.
  • For the second time this season, junior guard Damarius Smith posted a double-digit assist total, with a career-high 12 on the evening. It was the highest total posted by a Governor since Derek Wright had 12 assists at UT Martin, Jan. 3, 2008.
  • Sophomore center Chris Horton put together his fifth double-double on the season with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Horton also blocked four shots.
  • Travis Betran's 23 and Chris Horton's 21 mark the first time two Govs scored 20 since Will Triggs and Travis Betran had 20 each against Morehead State, Jan. 9, 2013.
  • Betran scored 20 points or more for the 14th time in 41 career games for Austin Peay.
  • Betran's 23 points mark the third time he has recorded 20 or more in a game this season. His 54.6 percent shooting was a season-best.
  • Senior forward Will Triggs finished with 10 points, his first game in double figures since Nov. 22 against Cal State Northridge.
  • The win is Austin Peay's first home victory against a Big South opponent since 1979.
