The Govs are coming off a heartbreaking 58-56 road defeat at Vanderbilt. The loss dropped APSU to 5-6 on the season.
Center Chris Horton, the OVC Player of the Week for last week's performance against Liberty, continued his strong play against Vanderbilt, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. It was his second straight double-double and sixth overall this season.
This is the 71st meeting between Austin Peay and Lipscomb, with APSU holding a 40-30 edge. This is fifth time the two teams have met since resuming the series in 2010-11. The Govs are seeking their first win since series' resumption.
This is Lipscomb's seventh game this season at Ohio Valley Conference foes. The Bison are 3-3 against the OVC this season, including a pair of losses to Belmont.
Lipscomb comes in at 4-6 overall under first-year coach Casey Alexander.
When Austin Peay plays Lipscomb, Thursday, it will be the first game as Governors for Clarksville natives Damarius Smith and Zavion Williams against their previous university. Smith, a Kenwood graduate, redshirted in 2010-11 at Lipscomb and played the 2011-12 season. He played last season at Vincennes Junior College before transferring to APSU. Williams, a West Creek High School grad, played the 2011-12 season at Lipscomb before transferring last season to APSU and sitting out according to NCAA rules.
It also will be homecoming for Clarksville natives Malcolm and Martin Smith, juniors on the Lipscomb team.
