APSU vs. EIU post-game notes

  • The loss to Eastern Illinois was the Govs' third straight.
  • The Govs fell to 24-15 all-time in the series.
  • APSU is now 0-3 on the road in the OVC and 1-8 on the season. It also was their sixth straight road loss.
  • The Govs are now 2-3 in 2014.
  • With a first-half free throw, Will Triggs cracked the career 1,000-point mark, making him the 33rd Gov in history to achieve that milestone.
  • Chris Horton finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds against EKU, making it the second straight and 10th double-double this season.
  • APSU connected on 15 of 21 free throws against Eastern Illinois, with the 71.4 percent representing the first time the Govs shot 70 percent or better at the line in the last seven games.
  • After going 8-of-8 at the line in the first half, the Govs were just 7-of-13  (53.8 percent) at the line in the second half
  • APSU, which had a significant rebound edge (17-10) in the opening half, finished the EIU game with a 27-25 edge. It was the third straight game the Govs won the rebound battle and the sixth time in the last eight games they did the trick.
  • In the Govs' two games to the Prairie State they combined for just 7-of-29 (24 percent) from the three-point line.
  • Senior forward Will Triggs and sophomore center Chris Horton did not start because of disciplinary reasons. It was the first time in 50 games Horton has failed to start. Sophomore Preston Herring started in place of Horton—Herring's first career start—while junior forward Chris Freeman started in Triggs' stead.
  • In making his season's first career start and fourth overall, Freeman finished with nine points—4-of-4 from the floor—and three rebounds in 11 minutes.
  • With Eastern Illinois ending the game shooting 53.1 percent, the Govs are now 3-9 when the opposition shoots better than 45 percent.
