Postgame Notes: Govs at UT Martin

  • Senior guard Travis Betran put on a show in his final game in an Austin Peay uniform. He scored a career-high 32 points – including the 1,000th of his career on a lay-up with 9:35 remaining.
  • Betran now owns Austin Peay's single-season and career free-throw percentage records. He finished the 2013-14 season with an 87.7 percent (107-for-122) mark, eclipsing Tim Thomas' 1978-79 mark, and his 86.1 percent (199-for-231) career mark easily eclipses Howard Gorrell's 79.8 percent from 1956-60.
  • Over the final 10 games of his Austin Peay career, Betran averaged 21.4 points per game.
  • As a squad, the Govs hit 84.0 percent (21-for-25) from the free-throw line against UT Martin, their best performance of the year.
  • Sophomore Chris Horton ended his season on a high note with a 20-point, 16-rebound performance; it was his 13th double-double and third 20-10 outing of the year.
  • Horton finished the year with 285 rebounds, seventh-most in a single season in Austin Peay history. He bookended the campaign with the two best rebounding performances of his career, with 17 in the opener against Oakland City and 16 in the finale against the Skyhawks.
  • The Govs allowed UT Martin to score 85 points, the seventh straight opponent to break the 80-point barrier. Austin Peay went 2-5 in those contests.
  • Junior Ed Dyson tallied a career-high five assists.
  • With five assists, junior Damarius Smith finished his first season in an Austin Peay uniform with 139 assists, the 10th-best single-season mark in Austin Peay history.
  • By going 4-for-4 from the free-throw line, senior Will Triggs passed Nick Stapleton and Howard Wright to move into eighth all-time with 315 made free-throws, and passed Wes Channels for sole possession of fourth all-time with 519 attempted.
  • Triggs finished with 14 points, his 50th career double-digit scoring effort in 125 games.
