Player of the Game: Dre Gleason (3-for-3, 2B, R)
Austin Peay (9-4, 3-0 OVC) improves to 2-0 in midweek contests this season.
The Governors recorded five runs on 10 hits in the contest, leading to a 5-2 victory.
After three and a half innings with the scored tied 1-1, Clayton Smithson doubled home the winning run, while Patrick Massoni followed with a two-run home run to left center.
APSU would later add another run in the seventh inning thanks to a RBI single by Alex Robles.
Senior Zach Hall picked up the win, going 5.2 innings with two runs and six hits allowed. It's his first win since May 23, 2013 in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
A.J. Gaura earned the save, his second of 2015.
THE LINEUP
Patrick Massoni… Massoni's lone hit of the game was a two-run home run to left center, his second in four days.
Imani Willis… In his third start of the season, Willis reached base three times, including a single in the first inning.
Logan Gray… The sophomore was 0-for-3 on Wednesday, ending a four-game hitting streak.
Ridge Smith… Smith tripled and walked to go 1-for-3 against the Skyhawks.
Garrett Copeland… Copeland was one of two Govs with multiple hits, including a RBI double in the third inning.
Alex Robles… Serving as the DH, Robles was 1-for-3 with a RBI single, and leads the team in batting average at .388.
Dre Gleason… Gleason reached base in all four plate appearances, going 3-for-3 with a double and run scored.
Kyle Blackburn… Starting in right field, Blackburn went 0-for-3 at the plate.
Clayton Smithson… Smithson doubled home the eventual game-winning run, going 1-for-4 overall in the contest.
Chase Hamilton… Hamilton replaced Blackburn in right in the game's later stages, and had a sacrifice bunt in his only at-bat.
ON THE MOUND
Austin Peay pitchers allowed two runs on seven hits on the day, with the bullpen allowing just one of the six.
Zach Hall improved his record to 1-2, and was replaced by Zach Walton in the seventh inning. The right-hander sat down all four batters faced including one strikeout.
A.J. Gaura pitched the final two innings, allowing just one man to reach and struck out one batter.
