TEAM NOTES
Player of the Game #1: Patrick Massoni - (5-for-5, HR, 2B, RBI, 2 R)
Player of the Game #2: Levi Primasing - (2.0 IP, 6 Ks)
Austin Peay (7-4, 2-0 OVC) begins the conference season 2-0 for the first time since 2013.
In Game 1, the Governors had eight extra base hits, with three being home runs. Offensively, APSU was led by the red-hot junior Patrick Massoni, who went 5-for-5 in the game. It's the first Gov to accomplish the feat since Reed Harper on May 5, 2013 against Morehead State.
Down 2-1 in the second inning of Game 1, a home run by Chase Hamilton was all the Govs needed to pull away for an 11-5 victory.
In Game 2, a wild pitch would be the eventual winning run in the third inning as APSU won 6-3.
After Caleb Powell completed his duties on the mound, the bullpen duo of Levi Primasing and Kacy Kemmer recorded nine strikeouts in a row to end the game.
