Player of the Game: Logan Gray (2-for-3, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, 2 BB)
Austin Peay (21-17) dropped an extra-inning contest to Lipscomb, 12-6, on Tuesday at Raymond C. Hand Park.
APSU starter Caleb Powell did not allow a hit until the fourth inning, then walked three-straight batters in the fifth to allow the Bisons to score six runs. Lipscomb scored in only two innings – the fifth and 11th – totaling 12 runs.
Sophomore Logan Gray supplied the power for the Govs, hitting two home runs in the contest. Coming into the night, he was two off the home run lead in Division I.
THE LINEUP
Ridge Smith… After his impressive weekend against Eastern Kentucky, Smith went 0-for-6 on Tuesday.
Cayce Bredlau… Bredlau was 2-for-6 with a run scored on the night.
Garrett Copeland… Copeland singled for his lone hit of the day, and also scored twice.
Logan Gray… The sophomore now has 14 homers on the year after hitting two against the Bisons.
Josh Wilson… Wilson followed Gray in the fourth to have back-to-back homers, finishing with three RBI and a run scored.
Alex Robles… Serving as the DH, Robles went 1-for-5 after a single in the seventh.
Dre Gleason… Gleason was 1-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts.
Patrick Massoni… Massoni went 1-for-4, a single in the fourth which followed Gleason's hit.
T.J. Marik… Marik went 0-for-2 before being replaced by a pinch-hitter.
Wesley Purcell… Purcell hit for Marik in the eighth, striking out swinging.
Imani Willis… Willis entered as a defensive replacement, and did not step to the plate.
Kyle Blackburn… Blackburn entered as a pinch-hitter in the 11th, and went down swinging.
Clayton Smithson… Smithson batted after Blackburn, going down on strikes.
ON THE MOUND
Austin Peay pitchers combined to allow 12 runs on 10 hits, while the defense committed two errors.
After Caleb Powell went 4 1/3 innings, Zach Walton allowed one hit before being replaced by Levi Primasing. The lefty went 3 1/3, giving up one run on three hits.
A.J. Gaura proved to be the most-effective guy out of the pen, allowing just two hits in 2 1/3.
Michael Costanzo took the loss for APSU, falling to 0-2 on the year.
