Govs drop in-state battle at MTSU

MURFREESBORO – On the road for an in-state battle, Austin Peay State University men's tennis fell to Middle Tennessee, 7-0, Monday at the Adams Tennis Complex.

The Governors started out the day with the same three doubles pairings as their previous match at Louisville. In the No. 1 matchup, Austin Peay's junior duo of Christian Edison and Jacob Lorinio fell to the Blue Raider's No. 1 team of Chris Edge and Daniel Stormon (3-5) in a match that was unfinished.

Playing on the third doubles line, Thiago Nogueira and Oliver Andersson's match finished first, as the Governors fell to Middle Tennessee's Max Rauch and Patrick Kristensen (6-1). In the No. 2 doubles match, Anton Damberg and Julius Gold were edged out by Sean Presson and Pavel Motl (6-2), as the Blue Raiders picked up the doubles point in the match.

In singles action, the No. 3 matchup finsied up first, as Gold fell to Rauch (6-0, 6-1). The No. 4 match was the next to go final, as Lorino fell to MTSU's Kristensen (6-2, 6-1). Middle Tennessee sealed the match with the No. 6 singles pairing, as Nogueira fell to MTSU's Brad Buckland to give the Blue Raiders their fourth point of the match.

To finish the match, Damberg played on the No.2 line for the Governors, where he fell to Middle Tennessee's Edge (6-2, 6-1). Playing in his second match after returning to action, Andersson was once again the No. 5 for Austin Peay, he fell to the Blue Raider's Presson (6-1, 6-1).

The final singles match of the day to finish was a battle between each team's No. 1 player, with Edison falling to MTSU's Moonen (6-2, 6-4) to close out the match.
