Leder remains unbeaten, as Govs fall to Louisville, Friday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Freshman Jana Leder picked up her ninth singles win, to remain unbeaten in her Austin Peay State University career; but Governors women's tennis saw their seven-match winning streak come to an end, Thursday, as they fell to Louisville, 6-1, at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The Governors fell behind the Cardinals early, dropping the doubles point to start the match. The No. 2 doubles match was the first on the board, as Fabienne Schmidt and Aleks Topalovic saw their six-match winning streak come to an end in straight sets.

In the No. 3 doubles match, Ana Albertson and Sarah Heckel were the next match to finish, as the Governors duo lost for the first time this spring. In the final doubles match of the day, the Govs No. 1 pairing of Leder and Danielle Morris were tied 5-5 when their match was left unfinished, because Louisville had already claimed the doubles point.
Trailing 1-0 entering singles play, the Govs dropped the first singles point as Schmidt dropped her first match of the spring and saw her nine-match winning streak come to an end. The No. 2 and No. 6 singles matches were the next on the board, with Morris and Heckel both falling to the Cardinals, as Louisville picked up a match-clinching point.

With Louisville leading 4-0, the Governors picked up their lone point of the day in the No. 3 singles match. Freshman Jana Leder won her ninth-straight match in the No. 3 position, to remain unbeaten in her Austin Peay career.

But Leder's point was the last of the day for the Govs, who dropped the No. 4 and No. 5 singles matches, as Paladini-Jennings and Topalovic both fell to the Cardinals.
