CLARKSVILLE – After a slow start to the spring season, Austin Peay State University men's tennis has reeled off three-straight wins after beating North Alabama, 5-2, Saturday at the Governors Tennis Center.

It was the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles pairings that took care of business agains the Lions of North Alabama, as the Governors picked up the doubles point. Anton Damberg and Julius Gold were the first doubles match to go final, as the Govs No. 3 pairing picked up their third-straight win.

The Governors No. 3 pairing of Oliver Andersson and Hunter Sanders provide the double-point clinching win, as they picked up their second-straight win as a duo. In the No. 1 singles match, Jacob Lorino and Christian Edison led the Lions No. 1 pairing, 4-3, but the match was left unfinished.

In the first singles match to go final, North Alabama tied the match, picking up a win over Gold in the No. 3 position. But the Governors quickly got back out in front, as the No. 4 matchup was the next to go final, as Andersson picked up his third win of the spring for the Govs.

With Austin Peay leading 2-1, North Alabama was able to tie the match once again, as the Lions knocked off Edison in the No. 1 match to level the score. But once again the Governors bounced back quickly, as Sanders handily won on the No. 6 line to put the Govs just a point away from clinching the match.

Needing just one more point to clinch the match, the Governors wasted no more time, as Damberg wrapped up a hard-fought three-set victory in the No. 2 position to clinch the match for Austin Peay.

With the match already decided, Lorino picked up one more point for the Govs, winning in the No. 5 position to secure a 5-2 win over the Lions of North Alabama, as the Governors improved to 3-0 on their four-match home stand.
