Govs host Lipscomb for inaugural ASUN match

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay State University's soccer team hosts Lipscomb in its inaugural ASUN Conference match at 6 p.m., Saturday, at Morgan Bros. Soccer Field.

The Governors (2-3-3) earned their fourth shutout of the season in a 1-0 victory against Alabama A&M, Sunday. Olivia Prock netted her first goal of the season in the 75th minute to secure the nonconference-finale victory.

Anna McPhie leads the Govs' offense with a pair of goals and five points this season. The Nelson, New Zealand native scored the game-winning goal in Austin Peay's 2-0 victory at UT Martin, Aug. 31, for the first win under head coach Kim McGowan.

Four Govs – Prock, McPhie, Alec Baumgardt and Karley Roberts – have found the back of the net for the Govs this season.

Chloé Dion has had a career year between the pipes for APSU. The senior goalkeeper has tallied 25 saves and a .758 save percentage while allowing just one goal per match. Her one goal allowed average is best for second in the conference, while her four shutouts are 19th in Division I.

The 2021 ASUN West Division and Tournament champions, Lipscomb (3-4-1) was picked as the preseason favorite in the ASUN Coaches Poll, earning 12 of 14 first-place votes and had four players selected to the Preseason All-ASUN Team. Among those four individuals were CJ Graham and Shelby Craft, the preseason goalkeeper and defensive player of the year, respectively.

The Bisons dropped a 4-1 decision to Xavier, Sept. 11, after drawing with Vanderbilt, 1-1-, Sept. 8.
