LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Led by a score of five-under 139 from Patton Samuels, the Austin Peay State University men's golf team shot even-par 576 and is in 11th place after two rounds at Little Rock's Everett Buick GMC Classic, Monday, at Chenal Country Club.
Austin Peay shot one-over 289 in the first round and one-under 187 in the second round, finishing the day three shots behind 10th-place Central Arkansas and five shots behind ninth-place UAB. Little Rock leads the tournament with a team score of 23-under 553 and Lipscomb's Minas Manias is the individual leader with a score of 11-under 133.
After carding an even-par 72 in the opening round, Samuels carded five birdies and just one bogey in the second round to shoot five-under 67. Samuels is tied for ninth and six shots off the individual lead after 36 holes.
John Mark Mills opened the tournament with a score of one-under 71 before carding a three-over 75 in the second round, he is tied for 44th with a score of two-over 146. Seth Smith shot one-over 73 in each of the day's rounds and also is tied for 44th with an aggregate score of two-over 146.
Making his Austin Peay debut, Jackson Wise shot three-over 75 in the opening round and even-par 72 in the second round to finish the day tied for 50th with a score of three-over 147.
Rounding out the lineup for Austin Peay, Parker Elkins shot one-over 73 in the first round and an 80 in the second round to finish the day tied for 78th with a score of 153.
Austin Peay is paired with Central Arkansas, Furman, and UAB for the Everett Buick GMC Classic's final round, which begins with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start, Tuesday.
