LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Austin Peay State University's men's golf team shot two-over 290 in the final round of Little Rock's Everett Buick GMC Classic, Tuesday, to finish in 13th place with a score of two-over 866 at Chenal Country Club.
Austin Peay finished one shot behind Middle Tennessee and Abilene Christian, who tied for 11th place, and three shots behind Furman and Central Arkansas, who tied for ninth. Little Rock won the team title with a score of 34-under 830, and Lipscomb's Minas Manias was the individual winner after shooting 14-under 202 at the par-72, 7,115-yard track.
Patton Samuels shot one-over 73 in the final round to finish tied for 18th with a score of four-under 212. Jackson Wise closed out his Austin Peay debut with a second-straight even-par 72 to pick up seven spots on the field and finish tied for 43rd with a score of three-over 219.
Seth Smith carded a three-over 75 in the final round and finished tied for 52nd with a three-round total of 221. Parker Elkins was the biggest mover of the round for the Govs, shooting two-over 70 to jump 18 spots on the leaderboard and finish tied for 60th with a score of 223.
Rounding out the lineup for the Governors, John Mark Mills shot a 79 and finished tied for 67th with a score of 225.
Austin Peay is back in action for the final time this fall when it competes at the Saint Mary's Invitational, Oct. 20-22, at Bayonet & Blackhouse Golf Club in Seaside, California.
