Govs Remain in 15th Place After 36 Holes at Bayonet Golf Course

SEASIDE, Calif. – Austin Peay State University's men's golf team shot 17-over 305 in the second round of the Saint Mary's Invitational, Tuesday, and is in 15th place after 36 holes at the par-72, 7,104-yard Bayonet Golf Course.

Austin Peay is eight shots behind 14th-place Sam Houston and 13 shots behind New Mexico State and UC Santa Barbara, who are tied for 12th. Arkansas State leads the Saint Mary's Invitational with a score of 12-under 564, and the Red Wolves' Thomas Schmidt is the individual leader with a score of seven-under 137.

Patton Samuels led the Governors in the second round, shooting even-par 72 to pick up 23 spots on the field and finish the day tied for 37th with a score of four-over 148. Seth Smith carded a two-over 74 and is tied for 27th with a two-round score of two-over 174.

John Mark Mills shot four-over 76 for the second-straight round and is tied for 68th with a score of eight-over 152. Rounding out the lineup for the Govs, Jackson Wise and Parker Elkins both shot 83 in the second round. Wise is tied for 87th with a score of 161, and Elkins is tied for 89th with a score of 163 after 36 holes.
