Clarksville, Tenn. – Junior Caleb Powell, of the Austin Peay State University baseball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

In Austin Peay’s lone victory last week, Powell tossed six innings of four-hit, one-run ball at Morehead State’s notoriously small Allen Field, leading the Govs to a series-salvaging 6-2 victory against the Eagles.

The Milan, Tenn., native retired the side in the first and fourth innings and danced out of trouble with runners in scoring position in the second and sixth innings for his season’s fifth victory and second in as many week’s as the Governors No. 3 starter.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

• Seniors Chris Baker and Austin Kramer, of the men’s golf team, finished tied for ninth at the 2016 Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Golf Championships, posting a three-round 221 (74-78-69 for Kramer, 75-76-70 for Baker).
• Junior outfielder Chandler Groves, of the softball team, hit .364 (4-for-11) for the Govs at Southeast Missouri, including a 3-for-4 outing with a home run and a double in the Governors Game One win against the Redhawks.
