Clarksville, Tenn. – Sophomore sprinter Tymeitha Tolbert, of the Austin Peay State University track and field team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

A Louisville native, Tolbert put together a strong weekend at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold, moving to the top of the OVC best lists in the 100m dash with an 11.90 and moving into the top-eight in the 200m with a 25.09, both personal-bests for the Louisville native; her 100m mark leaves her 72nd in the NCAA East. She also was part of a 4x100m quartet which posted a blistering 47.89 to move into first place in the OVC.

For her efforts, Tolbert was named adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Female co-Track Athlete of the Week, her second career weekly award from the conference.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Sophomore first baseman Parker Phillips, of the baseball team, collected a hit in all five contests for the Govs last week, including home runs in the first two games of the Tennessee Tech series.
  • Freshman Jay Fox, was runner-up as an individual at the Phoenix Invitational, thanks to a one-over par 143 (71-72); the Springfield native led the Govs in par-3 (3.00/hole), par-4 (4.14/hole) and par-5 (4.67/hole) scoring, turning in seven birdies and 23 pars over the two-day, 36-hole event.
  • Junior pole vaulter Savannah Amato, of the track and field team, took second in the pole vault at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invitational. Her mark of 3.85m (12-07.50) is first in the OVC and 15th in the East Region.
  • Junior utility player Morgan Rackel, of the softball team, homered twice and drove in five runs last week, hitting .308 at the dish and picking up both wins against Morehead State in the circle—the first a complete-game 3-1 win and the second 1.2 innings of shutout ball in relief.
