Austin Peay State University Athletics

Clarksville, Tenn. – Junior Morgan Rackel, of the Austin Peay State University softball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Rackel was electric in four appearances last week, going 4-0 with a 0.40 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 17.1 innings pitched. Opponents hit a microscopic .086 against the Calgary native.

On Sunday, Rackel pitched the program’s first no-hitter in 21 seasons, shutting down Eastern Illinois in a pivotal 1-0 victory. For her efforts, she earned adidas® OVC Pitcher of the Week, collegesportsmadness.com Player of the Week for the conference and the Tennessee Sports Writers College Pitcher of the Week.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

• Sophomore infielder Parker Phillips, of the baseball team, had multiple hits in the first two games of Austin Peay’s series against UT Martin and scored at least two runs in all three contests to help the Govs take the series. The Collierville native blasted two home runs in the first two games of the series, giving him an OVC-high 15 this season.
• Junior pole vaulter Savannah Amato, of the track and field team, won her event at the Memphis Tiger Invitational—her 18^th career win—with a 3.92m (12-10.25) mark.
