Post-Game Notes: APSU vs. EKU

Post-Game Notes

  • The loss snapped an eight-game winning streak for the Govs against Eastern Kentucky in the Dunn Center.
  • After finishing .500 or better in the OVC for 19 straight seasons, the Governors are now assured of a below .500 OVC mark for the second straight season.
  • The 29-of-50 shooting (58 percent) was the 15th time this season the Governors have shot 50 percent or better from the field.
  • In fact, Saturday was the first time the Govs have lost a game shooting 55 percent or better since dropping an 81-74 contest at Jacksonville State, Jan. 24, 2013, despite connecting on 32 of 58 (55.2 percent) in that contest.
  • Travis Betran's 23 points against Eastern Kentucky was the ninth time this season he has scored 20 or more points.
  • The 17 three-pointers by Eastern Kentucky were a season-high allowed by the Govs and eighth time this season APSU permitted 10 or more three pointers.
  • Glenn Cosey's eight three pointers tied the Dunn Center mark by an opponent, set originally in 1991 by Middle Tennessee's Robert Taylor and now tied four times since.
  • With Glenn Cosey's 27 points and Tarius John's 24, it was the first time two opposing players reached 20 points since Corey Wilford had 26 and Tyler Stone 20 against the Govs, Feb. 28, 2013.
  • Junior point guard Fred Garmon, who played 42 minutes against Morehead State, Wednesday, tweaked a knee during shoot-around Saturday and was unable to play. As a result, the Governors were forced to start fellow junior Damarius Smith, who had missed the previous four games with an ankle sprain and returned to practice on a limited basis, Friday.
  • Ed Dyson's 13 points was the seventh straight double-digit scoring game.
  • Chris Horton was held without a blocked shot for only the second time this season and the first since the East Tennessee game, Dec. 21, 2013.
  • Chris Horton, who led or co-led the Governors in rebounding for the first 20 games this season, how has not been APSU's rebounder in three of the last four games. Ed Dyson led the Govs against Morehead State (seven) and Eastern Kentucky (six) this week.
  • The 56 second-half points by Eastern Kentucky were the most allowed by the Governors in a half this season.
