TEAM NOTES
Player of the Game: Jared Carkuff (Win, 6.0 IP, 5 H, R, 4 K)
Austin Peay (2-0) managed just three hits after five innings until scoring two runs in the 6th. Patrick Massoni scored the tying run after a wild pitch from South Dakota State starter Chris Anderson, while Alex Robles drove in the game-winning run with a sacrifice fly to right field.
It would be all the Governors needed, but Massoni was able to tack on an insurance run with a RBI single up the middle, scoring Kyle Blackburn.
It's the first 2-0 start for Austin Peay since 2012.
Carkuff allowed South Dakota's only run, but it was unearned courtesy of two errors made in the 5th inning.
Robles picked up his first career save, pitching two innings after being the Govs' number one starter a year ago.
