TEAM NOTES
Player of the Game: Michael Costanzo (2.2 IP, H, BB, 2 K)
Austin Peay (10-5, 4-1 OVC) defeated the Gamecocks 10-8 on Sunday, outscoring JSU 9-0 in the final five innings.
The Governors recorded 10 runs on 12 hits in the contest. APSU trailed 0-7 after three innings before scoring its first run in the bottom of the third.
Sophomore Alex Robles provided the game-winning hit in the bottom of the eighth, lifting a sacrifice fly to center field. The Govs would then add another run courtesy of a JSU error.
Hunter Lindley earned the first win of his career on the mound in relief, going 1.1 innings with one and one walk allowed. Levi Primasing picked up the save, his first as a Governor.
THE LINEUP
Patrick Massoni… Massoni singled in the eighth inning, his only hit of the day, while also scoring a run.
Cayce Bredlau… Bredlau went 2-for-4 on the day, including a double in the opening frame for APSU's first hit. He also scored once.
Alex Robles… Despite an 0-for-4 game, Robles delivered the game-winning sacrifice fly in the eighth inning.
Dre Gleason… Gleason was 2-for-4 at the plate on Sunday, with one double, while also scoring twice.
Garrett Copeland… Copeland had another two-hit game, while also having two RBIs and three runs scored. He now leads the team with a .357 batting average.
Ridge Smith… Starting in right field, Smith was 1-for-3 with two RBIs on the day.
Caleb Mitchell… Getting the start behind the plate was Mitchell, who had a RBI single in the contest.
Kyle Blackburn… Blackburn went 0-for-2 before being replaced by a pinch-hitter.
Clayton Smithson… Smithson homered to left center in the third, and also scored twice.
Josh Wilson… Wilson hit for Blackburn in the sixth, recording a double and groundout in two plate appearances.
Chase Hamilton… Hamilton laced a clutch single through the right side in the eighth, and later came around to score.
Imani Willis… Willis entered as a defensive replacement in right field.
ON THE MOUND
Austin Peay pitchers allowed eight runs on 13 hits on the day.
Caleb Powell started the game for the Govs, going two innings with seven runs on seven hits on his line. He was replaced by Jake Corum (1.1 IP, 2 H, ER, K), Zach Neff (0.1 IP, H, K), and Zach Walton (1.0 IP, H, BB, K).
The ball was then handed to freshman Michael Costanzo, who got the Govs out of trouble in 2.2 innings to allow just two base runners to reach.
Hunter Lindley was given the lead as he stayed in to pitch the ninth, and with two outs in the inning, APSU turned to Levi Primasing to get the one out save.
