Player of the Game: Zach Hall (QS, L, 6.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 4 K)
Austin Peay (10-7) fell to Tennessee (9-8) 3-0 on Tuesday, with the Governors putting just three men in scoring position.
The Volunteers struck first with a solo home run in the fifth inning, and later had a sacrifice fly and RBI single up the middle to out-pace APSU on the scoreboard.
Despite taking the loss, Zach Hall (1-3) received a quality start by going six innings with five hits and three runs allowed. He also did not walk a batter with four strikeouts recorded.
THE LINEUP
Imani Willis… In his fourth start of the season, Willis made an outstanding defensive play in center field, and went 0-for-4 at the plate.
Cayce Bredlau… Bredlau went 0-for-3 on the day, which drops his batting average to .294 on the year.
Logan Gray… Getting the start at third base, Gray singled in the first inning for APSU's first hit, finishing 1-for-4.
Ridge Smith… Smith followed Gray in the same inning with a single, also going 1-for-4.
Garrett Copeland… The sophomore had APSU's lone extra base hit of the game, a triple in the fourth.
Wesley Purcell… The designated hitter laced a single in the seventh inning, going 1-for-3 on the evening.
Dre Gleason… Gleason went 0-for-3 at the plate with no strikeouts.
Chase Hamilton… Hamilton was 0-for-2 with a pair of strikeouts.
Clayton Smithson… The shortstop singled in the eighth, but a double play ended a late threat by the Govs.
Patrick Massoni… Massoni entered as a pinch-hitter in the ninth, drawing a walk.
Caleb Mitchell… Mitchell went 0-for-1 as a pinch-hitter for Hamilton.
Kyle Blackburn… Blackburn entered as a defensive replacement in the later stages.
ON THE MOUND
Austin Peay pitchers surrendered three runs on six hits with just one walks allowed.
Following Zach Hall was A.J. Gaura, who went 1.1 innings with one run allowed and one walk. From there, it was a matchup-by-matchup game as Levi Primasing, Caleb Powell, and John Sparks entered in the eighth inning.
