SERIES UPDATE

  • The Redhawks lead the series 16-7, and have a 7-4 record at Houck Field.

OFFENSIVE SPARKS

  • The Governors displayed incredible balance offensively, as they passed for 229 yards and rushed for 226 yards, for a total of 455.
  • Kentel Williams' 13-yard touchdown run in the first quarter was his sixth rushing touchdown of the season.
  • DeAngelo Wilson caught his fourth touchdown of the season on a 23-yard strike from Jeremiah Oatsvall just before halftime. He tied DJ Montgomery for the team lead in receiving touchdowns. No player had more than three receiving touchdowns in 2017 (Montgomery, Kyran Moore).
  • Wilson would add a second receiving touchdown – the second multi-touchdown game of his career – on a 17-yard strike on 4th-and-4 in the fourth quarter.
  • Tre Nation scored his third rushing touchdown of the season from 6-yards out to help the Govs reclaim the lead in the fourth quarter.
  • Oatsvall completed 15-of-29 passes for 229 yards. It is the second game this season he has eclipsed 200 yards passing, and the third of his career.

DEFENSIVE STANDS

  • The Govs bottled up the OVC's leading rusher, holding Marquis Terry to 40 yards on 20 carries for an average of 2.0 yards per carry. Terry entered the game averaging 9.4 yards per carry on 69 carries.
  • The defense limited SEMO to just three first-half points. The Redhawks entered the game averaging 20 points in the first half.
  • Malik Davis picked off his second pass of the season when he intercepted SEMO's Daniel Santacaterina in the first quarter. With that, the Governors have recorded at least one turnover in every game in 2017, and 10 straight contests dating back to 2017.
  • The Govs limited Santacaterina to 9-of-25 passing and 139 yards through three quarters.
  • Juantarius Bryant led the Govs with 12 total tackles on the day. It was his first double-digit tackle game of the season.
  • Gunnar Scholato racked up 10 total tackles, the fourth time this season he has reached double digits in tackles, and the 13th time in his career.

SPECIAL TEAMS SPRINTS

  • Quarterback Jeremiah Oatsvall pooched a punt in the first quarter that was downed inside the Redhawks' 1-yard line. It was his first punt of the season. He punted again in the second quarter and it was downed at the 1-yard line.
