Govs sweep Redhawks, finish regular season unbeaten at home

CLARKSVILLE – Sophomore Brooke Moore posted a 10-kill, 14-dig double-double and Austin Peay State University's volleyball team swept Southeast Missouri (25-15, 25-20, 25-16), Saturday, in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Winfield Dunn Center.

With the sweep, Austin Peay (22-3, 11-1 OVC) posted the second unblemished regular-season home mark in program history. The Governors 10-0 record this season joined the 1992 team's 13-0 home regular-season record.

The Governors were dominant in all phases of the match against the Redhawks. Offensively, Moore aided an effort that saw APSU record 50 kills and a .432 team attack percentage. She also led a defensive performance that finished with 46 digs and six blocks.

Southeast Missouri (14-11, 6-6 OVC) finished with 35 kills and a .216 team attack percentage – Annie Wehrheim and Haley Bilbruck each posting 10 kills – but could not keep pace with Austin Peay.

The Governors four seniors each had impressive outings in their final regular-season home matches. Cecily Gable led Austin Peay with 11 kills. Logan Carger had eight kills and a .800 attack percentage while Kaylee Taff had eight kills and a .571 attack percentage – both Carger and Taff had errorless outings. Kristen Stucker posted 40 assists, three kills, and two blocks.

Austin Peay now turns its attention to a regular-season ending four-match road trip. The Governors start that excursion with a 7 p.m., Tuesday contest at second-place Murray State in a Heritage Bank Battle of the Border event.
