Charlie Fishback played just two years in an Austin Peay uniform but had tremendous impact on Austin Peay basketball and the Ohio Valley Conference in that short time frame. He came to APSU in 1974-75 from Cumberland College and was named first-team All-OVC guard that season after averaging 18.9 points per game, shooting 51.6 percent from the floor and 80.6 percent from the free-throw line.
As a senior, he repeated as an All-OVC by averaging 15.9 points per game scoring, shooting 51.4 percent from the floor and 78.3 percent from the line. An outstanding defender, he also had 61 steals as a senior.
Overall, Fishback averaged 17.4 points per game during his career and, along the way, was named to the Clemson and Evansville all-tourney teams. He also was a member of the OVC all-tourney team in 1975. After completing his eligibility, he served one season as a Govs assistant.
For the past 13 1/2 years, Fishback has worked as supervisor of 80 individuals for the Kentucky Probation Parole Department of Corrections. He also has served as minister at Mount Union Baptist Missionary Church in Bowling Green, Ky., for the past 13 years.
He and his wife, Linda, have been married for 28 years. Both his daughter, Streleisia, and son, Daymeon, shared his love for basketball. She was an outstanding high school player who earned an academic scholarship to Western Kentucky while Daymeon was a former Mr. Kentucky Basketball who starred at Auburn.
