Player of the Game: Jared Carkuff (6.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 10 K)
Austin Peay (8-4, 3-0 OVC) begins the conference season 3-0 for the first time since 2013. It's also the first conference sweep since 2013 as the Govs took three against SIU Edwardsville.
The Governors recorded 12 runs on 12 hits in the contest, the third-highest single game run total this season.
Down 2-1 in the first inning, APSU answered to score five runs in the next two innings, with a single by Clayton Smithson being the eventual game-winning RBI.
From that point on, the Govs outscored EIU 6-1 in the final five innings, leading to a 12-3 victory.
Junior Jared Carkuff picked up the win, his second of the year, by going six innings with three hits and two runs allowed. He also walked two batters and struck out a career-high 10.
It's the first 10+ strikeout performance since Alex Robles had 13 on April 25, 2014 against Eastern Kentucky.
