  • Austin Peay could not overcome a fast start for Eastern Illinois, falling 52-21 in Charleston, Ill.

SERIES UPDATE            

  • EIU leads the all-time series 15-4.
  • The Panthers have a 7-2 record at O'Brien Field.

OFFENSIVE SPARKS

  • With a 6-yard reception in the first quarter, DJ Montgomery extended his streak of games with at least one reception to 15, dating back to 2017.
  • Montgomery finished the game with seven receptions for 165 yards and a touchdown, setting a career high in yardage. It is was his third 100-yard receiving game in 2018.
  • Gorel Soumare caught a 6-yard score just before halftime. It was his first career touchdown.
  • With 12 carries for 49 yards, Ahmaad Tanner went over 1,000 rushing yards for his career, bringing his total to date to 1,019.
  • Prince Momodu carried eight times for 50 yards to lead the Govs. He pounded in a 1-yard score in the final minute of the game. It was his fourth touchdown of the season.

DEFENSIVE STANDS

  • Jaison Williams recorded a sack in the second quarter and another in the third to take over the team lead with 4.5 on the season. He also upped his team-leading TFL total to 13.0.
  • With 2.0 sacks, Williams moved into third all-time at APSU in career sacks with 17.0, passing Marlin Chapman (1982-85) and Richard Darden (1989-92).
  • With 3.0 tackles for loss, Williams brought his career total to 32.0, which is tied for fifth all-time at APSU with Chapman (1982-85) and Josh Hackett (2004-07).
  • With 0.5 tackle for loss on EIU's opening drive, Corey Brown Sr. has recorded at least 0.5 TFL in eight straight games, including 1.0 TFL in six of the eight.
  • Gunnar Scholato led the team with 12 tackles, including a sack to bring his season total to 3.5. It was his sixth double-digit tackle game of the season.
  • Linebacker Tyler Reid set a career high with seven tackles, including 2.0 for loss.

SPECIAL TEAMS SPRINTS                   

  • Devin Stuart punted six times for an average of 35.3. He downed one inside the 20.
  • Kentel Williams had five kickoff returns for 102 yards, with a long of 40.
