SERIES UPDATE

  • Murray State leads the all-time series 36-16, and leads 15-11 in Clarksville.
  • Austin Peay has defeated Murray State in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1977-78.
  • The 48 points was the third-highest total the Govs have posted in the series, and the most since 1968.

OFFENSIVE SPARKS

  • Jeremiah Oatsvall found DeAngelo Wilson for a 32-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter. He caught a 4-yard touchdown in the third quarter to bring his season total to seven.
  • Wilson set a career high with seven receptions, which went for 99 yards.
  • Oatsvall found senior DJ Montgomery for a 23-yard touchdown in the second quarter. With that catch, Montgomery went over 1,000 receiving yards for his career. He finished his career with 61 receptions for 1,025 yards.
  • Oatsvall hit Montgomery for a 12 yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to bring his season total to 10 receiving touchdowns. He became just the fourth Gov to reach double-digit receiving touchdowns in a season, and his 10 is tied for third all-time at APSU with Devin Stark (2012).
  • Montgomery and Wilson became the first pair of Govs teammates to record at least seven receiving touchdowns in the same season.
  • With four touchdown passes, Oatsvall became the first Governor to ever throw for four or more touchdown passes in three games during a season. He threw for four at Jacksonville State and five against Tennessee Tech.
  • Oatsvall was responsible for 26 touchdowns this season (20 passing, 6 rushing), which is first all-time at APSU, passing Brian Baker's 25 in 1999. His 20 passing touchdowns are second all-time at APSU, trailing only Baker's 25 in 1999.
  • Oatsvall moved into third all-time at APSU in career touchdown passes with 27.
  • With a 46-yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter, Kentel Williams went over 2,000 rushing yards for his career. He now stands at 2,046 yards, which is sixth all-time at APSU.
  • Williams finished the day with 18 carries for 118 yards, his third 100-yard rushing day of the season. It was the seventh game this season he led the Govs in rushing.
  • Williams finished the day with 168 all-purpose yards, to bring his season total to 1,519 – the sixth-highest total in a season at Austin Peay.
  • Prince Momodu opened the scoring with a 12-yard rushing touchdown, his fifth of the season, on the Govs' first drive.
  • With the touchdown, the Govs scored first in six of the past seven games. All of those scores have been touchdowns.
  • Senior center Byron Glass started his 44th consecutive game, the longest streak on record at Austin Peay since starts began being tracked in 1998.
  • Oatsvall found tight end Trey Pruitt for a 16-yard reception on 1st-and-10 from the Govs' 5-yard line on their second possession. It was Pruitt's first catch of the season.

DEFENSIVE STANDS

  • Keawvis Cummings intercepted his second pass of the season when he grabbed a tipped ball in the second quarter. He finished the season with 14 passes defended (2 INT, 12 PBU), which is tied for fourth all-time in a season at APSU with Taylon Jennings (1998) and Ron Shegog (1985).
  • On the Racers' first possession of the third quarter, senior safety Malik Davis recorded his team-leading fourth interception of the season.
  • Trent Taylor intercepted his second pass of the season and returned it 71 yards for the touchdown in the fourth quarter. It was the first pick-six for the Govs since Gunnar Scholato ran one back against Kentucky in 2016.
  • The three interceptions was a season-high for the Govs.
  • The four turnovers were the second-highest total for the Govs this season. It is the fifth game this season the defense has forced multiple turnovers and the third with multiple interceptions.
  • The Govs held the Racers to 0-for-2 on fourth down conversion attempts.
  • The Govs limited Murray State to just 80 yards on the ground on 29 attempts for a 2.8 yards per carry average.

  • Gunnar Scholato posted 10 tackles, his seventh double-digit tackle game this season and 16th of his career.
  • With 1.0 tackle for loss, Jaison Williams upped his career total to 33.0, which is tied for fourth all-time at APSU with Daniel Becker (2006-09). His season total stands at 14.0 tackles for loss.
  • Though defensive statistics are not kept on two-point conversion attempts, Williams sacked Murray State quarterback Drew Anderson on the Racers' two-point attempt in the fourth quarter.
