- Austin Peay and Georgia met for the first time on the football field.
- It is the fifth time Austin Peay has faced a member of the Southeastern Conference since their return to scholarship football in 2007.

- The ongoing campaign to help raise funds for Landrey Eargle hit new heights during the game. Entering the day just shy of its campaign goal, the outpouring of support from the college football community pushed the campaign across its new goal line and now nearly has raised $130,000 total.
OFFENSIVE SPARKS
- JaVaughn Craig led the Govs third drive of the game and got the ball just to the Georgia 20-yard line but the Govs could not convert the drive into points.
- Craig also marshalled the Govs back into Georgia territory in the fourth quarter. The Govs got to the Georgia 28-yard line before turning the ball over on downs.
- The Governors two quarterbacks—Craig and preseason Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year Jeremiah Oatsvall—combined to completed 11-of-17 passes to six different receivers.
- Deangelo Wilson caught four passes for 25 yards, both career highs.
- Austin Peay saw its streak of 37 consecutive games with a score ended, suffering their first shutout since Nov. 1, 2014.

- The Governors defense did not allow a touchdown on Georgia's final three drives – and four of their last five – of the contest, including two three-and-outs.
- Rashon Davis made two tackles and had a key pass breakup on third down during Georgia's opening drive, holding the Bulldogs to a field goal try.
- Shaun Whittinghill recovered a fumble following a bad exchange to snuff out a Georgia drive just outside the red zone in the third quarter.
- Gunnar Scholato was tied for the team lead with seven tackles, including a half-tackle for loss.
- Malik Davis also had seven tackles, including five solo stops.
