GOVS-SKYHAWKS POSTGAME NOTES

FROM THE TOP    

  • Austin Peay saw its three-game OVC win streak and four-game OVC road win streak halted.
  • The Governors defense held UT Martin to six first-half points thanks to its first multi-interception game of the day. Both picks coming in the first half to deny the Skyhawks inside the Governors red zone.

CAPTAINS/COIN TOSS

SERIES UPDATE                                                         

  • Austin Peay lost its sixth-straight game in Martin and has not won at Graham Stadium since 1994.
  • UT Martin leads the all-time series 39-26-2.

OFFENSIVE SPARKS

  • Jeremiah Oatsvall ran for a touchdown for the third consecutive game. His 37-yard dash in the first quarter was his second longest this season, just behind his 55-yard touchdown dash against Morehead State.
  • Kentel Williams led the Governors with 95 all-purpose yards, including 91 yards on 11 carries. He also had the Govs longest play of the day – a 39-yard rush late in the fourth quarter.
  • JaVaughn Craig had Austin Peay's longest pass play of the afternoon, finding Ahmaad Tanner for a 38-yard strike on the game's first play.

DEFENSIVE STANDS                                              

  • Austin Peay intercepted a pass for the third consecutive game. It also was their first multi-INT outing of 2018.
  • Erskine Francis intercepted his first career pass, deny the Skyhawks inside the Govs 20-yard line in the first quarter.
  • Trent Taylor grabbed his second career interception, joining his pick against Morehead State last season.
  • The Governors had nine tackles for loss, it is the third consecutive game they have recorded five or more tackles for loss.
  • Malik Davis posted his second straight double-digit tackle game and the fifth of his career, finishing the day with 11 tackles.
  • Gunnar Scholato had his 11th career double-digit tackle outing, racking up 11 stops against the Skyhawks, including a team-leading two tackles for loss.
  • Jaison Williams shared the team lead with two tackles for loss with Scholato and also had seven tackles.

SPECIAL TEAMS SPRINTS                    

  • Devin Stuart's 58-yard punt on his first attempt was his longest punt this season and his third 50-plus yard boot. He averaged 40.3 yards per punt on six punts.
