FROM THE TOP

CAPTAINS/COIN TOSS

SERIES UPDATE

  • Austin Peay and Presbyterian met for the second time.
  • It is the first meeting between the two teams since 1955.
  • The Governors leveled the all-time series with the Blue Hose, 1-1.

HOME WIN STREAK

  • Austin Peay won its third consecutive home game dating back to last season.
  • It is the Govs longest home win streak since a four-game streak in 1986.

OFFENSIVE SPARKS

  • DJ Montgomery tied his career high with five receptions in the first half alone. He tacked on five more receptions in the second half and finished with 114 receiving yards on 10 catches – both career highs.
  • JaVaughn Craig finished with eight carries for 108 yards, it was his fourth career 100-yard rushing performance.
  • The Governors scored their first touchdown of 2018 at 6:27 of the second quarter on a 13-yard rush by Jeremiah Oatsvall, capping a 12-play, 91-yard drive.
  • Austin Peay's second touchdown drive was an 11-play, 65-yard push capped by a three-yard Prince Momodu run.
  • The Govs pieced together another seven-play, 80-yard drive, capped by JaVaughn Craig's eight-yard rushing touchdown to end the day's scoring.

DEFENSIVE STANDS

  • The Governors defense held Presbyterian to 179 total offensive yards, the fewest by an APSU opponent since Sept. 23, 2017 (Murray State, 90 yards, Week 4).
  • Austin Peay's defense twice came up big on Presbyterian drives that started after special teams miscues on the Governors 40-yard side of the field.
  • After a Presbyterian punt was mishandled, giving the Blue Hose the ball at the 39-yard line, the Governors defense forced a 3-and-out to keep Presbyterian off the scoreboard.
  • Rashon Davis intercepted a pass late in the first quarter, thwarting a Blue Hose drive at the one-yard line. The interception came after a bad snap from center on a Governors punt attempt that gave Presbyterian the ball at the Govs 13-yard line.

SPECIAL TEAMS SPRINTS

  • Logan Birchfield converted a 24-yard field goal with 1:30 left in the first half.
  • Devin Stuart averaged 42 yards on his four punts, including a 54-yard long punt.
