FROM THE TOP   

  • The Governors defeated Tennessee Tech, 41-10, for their second consecutive Homecoming victory. It is the first time the Govs have won consecutive Homecoming matchups since 2007-08.
  • With the victory, the Govs have defeated TTU four times during Homecoming, the most against any opponent on Homecoming.
  • With the victory, the Govs have won five straight home games dating back to last season. It is the first five-game home winning streak since 1980-81.
  • The victory is also the second for the Govs in the Sgt. York Trophy series: they defeated Tennessee State and fell to UT Martin earlier in the season. TSU has defeated TTU, and UT Martin has yet to face TTU or TSU.

SERIES UPDATE                                                         

  • Austin Peay has won two straight in the series. TTU leads the all-time series 32-20.
  • It was the Govs' first home victory against TTU since 2012. TTU holds a 17-9 advantage in Clarksville.

OFFENSIVE SPARKS

  • The Governors put up 566 yards of offense, their second-highest output of the season. It is the fifth game this season with 400 or more yards of offense.
  • The Govs rushed for 287 yards and passed for 279, marking the second straight game the Govs have eclipsed the 200-yard mark in rushing and passing.
  • Jeremiah Oatsvall found DJ Montgomery for a 55-yard touchdown to open the scoring in the first quarter. It was the longest reception of Montgomery's career.
  • Montgomery caught a 4-yard touchdown from Oatsvall in the second quarter, and he caught a 37-yard touchdown in the third quarter to record the first three-touchdown game of his career. He is the first Gov receiver to catch three touchdowns in a game since Jared Beard in 2016 vs. Tennessee State. The three receiving touchdowns in a game is tied for fourth in program history.
  • Montgomery finished the day with four catches for 111 yards, marking the second time this season he has eclipsed 100 yards receiving.
  • Baniko Harley caught a 65-yard touchdown pass from Oatsvall in the third quarter for his first career receiving touchdown. He followed that up with an 8-yard receiving score in the third quarter.
  • With five touchdown passes on the day, Oatsvall set a career high, surpassing the four he threw against Jacksonville State earlier this season. He became the first Gov quarterback to throw for four or more touchdowns in a game twice in a season since Dennis Dyer in 1968, who accomplished the feat against Findlay and Murray State.
  • The five touchdown passes for Oatsvall tied the program record for touchdown passes in a game. He became the first Gov to accomplish the feat since JaVaughn Craig did it against TSU in 2016.
  • Oatsvall completed 15-of-19 passes for 279 yards, marking a career-high in passing yardage, surpassing the 245 he threw at JSU. He has thrown for 229 yards or more in three games this season.
  • Kentel Williams led the Govs with 97 rushing yards on 16 carries, for a 6.1 yards per carry average. It is the fifth time in the past six games he has led the team in rushing.
  • With a 32-yard reception in the second quarter, Kadeem Goulbourne recorded his first reception of the season. He caught a 6-yarder in the third quarter.

DEFENSIVE STANDS

  • The 10 points allowed is the second-lowest point total surrendered by the Govs this season.
  • Nate Howard recorded a sack for a 5-yard loss on Tennessee Tech's first offensive play.
  • Howard finished the game with 2.0 tackles for loss, bringing his season total to 8.0.
  • Jaison Williams recorded 1.5 tackles for loss, bringing his team-leading total to 9.5 on the season.
  • With a tackle for loss in the second quarter, Corey Brown has recorded at least 0.5 tackle for loss in six straight games.
  • Gunnar Scholato recorded a sack for a 7-yard loss in the third quarter. He has recorded 2.0 sacks on the year, setting a career-high for sacks in a season. It brought his career total to 4.5 sacks.
  • With six pass break ups on the day, the Govs tied their season high set against Morehead State.
  • Scholato and Malik Davis tied for the team lead with seven total tackles apiece.
