  • Austin Peay and Eastern Kentucky battled back-and-forth in a defensive struggle, with EKU ultimately prevailing, 17-13.

CAPTAINS/COIN TOSS

SERIES UPDATE            

  • EKU leads the all-time series 46-5, and has a 22-3 advantage in Clarksville.

OFFENSIVE SPARKS

  • With a 5-yard rushing touchdown on the first drive, Jeremiah Oatsvall set the APSU record for career rushing touchdowns by a quarterback with 12, passing the previous mark set by Daniel Williams from 1992-96. It was his sixth rushing touchdown of the season, tying his mark from last season.
  • The Govs scored first for the fifth straight game. All five of those scores have been touchdowns.
  • Center Byron Glass record his 42nd consecutive start, the longest consecutive starts streak at APSU since starts began being tracked in 1998.
  • Kentel Williams led the Govs in rushing for the sixth game this season with 12 carries for 83 yards.
  • Williams finished with 172 all-purpose yards (83 rushing, 2 receiving, 87 kick return). He moved into eighth all-time for career all-purpose yards with 3,106, moving past John Ogles, Henry Yarber and Harold "Red" Roberts.
  • With a 9-yard reception, DJ Montgomery has caught at least one pass in 14 straight games dating back to 2017. He finished the day with three catches for 27 yards.
  • Montgomery's 32 receptions in nine games this season surpasses the team-leading 29 receptions Kyran Moore had in 2017.

DEFENSIVE STANDS

  • The Govs held EKU to just 17 points, marking the second straight game the Govs have held their opponent to less than 20 points. The defense surrendered just one touchdown and one field goal.
  • Kordell Jackson intercepted his second pass of the season when he picked off EKU's Alphonso Howard in the first quarter.
  • Malik Davis intercepted Howard in the second quarter for his third interception of the season.
  • With the two interceptions, the Govs have forced at least one turnover in eight of nine games this season. It is the fourth game this season the defense has forced multiple turnovers and the second with multiple interceptions.
  • With a stop behind the line of scrimmage on fourth down in the fourth quarter, Corey Brown Sr. has notched at least 0.5 tackle for loss in seven consecutive games. He now has 6.5 TFL on the season.
  • Gunnar Scholato and Trent Taylor tied for the team-lead with 10 total tackles. For Scholato, it is his fifth double-digit tackle game this season. He also led the team with 2.5 tackles for loss.
  • As a team, the Govs posted 11 tackles for loss.

SPECIAL TEAMS SPRINTS                   

  • Logan Birchfield equaled his career-long when he kicked a 45-yard field goal in the second quarter.
  • Birchfield kicked a 43-yard field goal later in the second quarter, marking the first time he kicked two 40-plus yard field goals in the same game and matched his career-high with two made field goals in a game. It's the first time a Govs kicker has made two 40-plus yard field goals in the same game John Bell against Gardner-Webb in 2008.
  • Devin Stuart punted five times, averaging 40.4 yards per boot. He pinned two inside the 20-yard line.
