GOVS-EAGLES POSTGAME NOTES

FROM THE TOP    

  • Austin Peay set program records for scoring (78), touchdowns (11) and total yardage (758 yards).
  • Kentel Williams set a career high with four total touchdowns (3 rushing, 1 receiving). It was the first four-touchdown day by a Governor since JaVaughn Craig's four TDs against Morehead State, last season.
  • Kentel Williams (147 yards) and Jeremiah Oatsvall (117 yards) became the first teammates to rush for 100 yards in the same game since Rashaan Coleman and Omar Williams in 2013 (Southeast Missouri).

  • Austin Peay won its third straight game against Morehead State.
  • Austin Peay won its second straight outing in Morehead, Kentucky.
  • Morehead State continues to lead the all-time series, 27-19.

OFFENSIVE SPARKS

  • Austin Peay's 78 points against Morehead State set a school record. It was the third time the Governors have scored more than 60 points, each time it has come against the Eagles.
  • The Governors 758 yards broke the school record of 701 yards set against Kentucky Wesleyan in 1994.
  • Austin Peay's 518 rushing yards were the third most in program history and most since a 554-yard outing against UT Martin – the Govs next opponent – in 1996.
  • The 11 touchdowns broke the program record of 10 set against Morehead State in 1994 and 2017.
  • Jeremiah Oatsvall posted his first career 100-yard rushing performance.
  • JaVaughn Craig's passing touchdown to DeAngelo Wilson at the 12:45 mark of the 1st quarter was the Govs first passing score of 2018.
  • Oatsvall's 55-yard run late in the first quarter was the longest run of his career.
  • Oatsvall's 59-yard passing touchdown to DeAngelo Wilson was the longest pass play of the year for the Govs.
  • Craig joined the 50-yard scoring group with his 54-yard touchdown toss to DJ Montgomery at 6:10 of the second quarter.
  • Kentel Williams tied his career high with three rushing touchdowns.
  • Jay Parker's 19-yard rush for a score to open the second half was his first career touchdown.
  • Seven of the Govs 11 touchdowns went for more than 30 yards. Williams had the longest touchdown of the day with his 72-yard run in the fourth quarter.
  • Prince Momodu had a 66-yard scoring run just 10 minutes after Williams' run.

DEFENSIVE STANDS                                              

  • Austin Peay had six tackles for loss in the first half, tying its season high in a game (Presbyterian). Malik Davis' tackle for loss in the second half set the Govs season high and they finished the game with 11 tackles for loss.
  • Jaison Williams finished the game with a career-high 3.5 tackles for loss, including a sack, in a seven-tackle outing.
  • Williams was one of eight Govs to record a tackle for loss in the contest.
  • Corey Brown recorded his first career sack early in the second half, forcing a punt.
  • Malik Davis finished with a Governors-leading 11 tackles, one shy of his career high set last season at Miami University. It is the fourth double-digit tackle game of his career.

SPECIAL TEAMS SPRINTS

  • Logan Birchfield connected on a program record 10 PATs, finishing the night 10-for-10.
  • All three Govs kick returners averaged 27 yards in returns. Both Baniko Harley and Kentel Williams had three returns for 80 yards while Daryl Rollins-Davis' lone return went for 27 yards.
  • Austin Peay's first punt did not occur until 6:00 left in the third quarter. Devin Stuart opened his day with a 48-yard punt that was fair caught. He later had a 46-yard punt that resulted in a touchback.
