Clarksville, Tenn. – Sophomore infielder Parker Phillips, of the Austin Peay State University baseball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Phillips gained national attention for his five home run day during Friday’s doubleheader against Eastern Kentucky; the Collierville native launched three homers in his first three at-bats in the opening game of the twinbill and followed it up with two more blasts during the nightcap.

For the week, Phillips hit .556 (10-for-18) with a .577 on-base percentage and 1.444 slugging percentage, driving in 15 runs and scoring nine to earn both adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week and Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week honors.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Junior pole vaulter Savannah Amato, of the track and field team, won her event at the APSU Invitational with a 4.01m (13-1.75) mark, surpassing the 13-foot mark for the third consecutive week.
  • Junior Reagan Greene, of the women’s golf team, just missed a spot on the All-Tournament team at the 2018 OVC Women’s Golf Championships, finishing seventh with a three-round 227 (74-76-77), leading the Govs in par-3 scoring (3.17/hole) and birdies (seven).
  • Junior catcher Carly Mattson, of the softball team, hit .500 (4-of-8) with a pair of solo homers for the Govs last week against Jacksonville State and Middle Tennessee.
