Clarksville, Tenn. – Sophomore midfielder Morgan Drawdy, of the Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Drawdy’s brace in the Governors win against Chattanooga came via 51st-minute volley on a cross from sophomore Katie Kenward, then she netted the game-winner for the Govs in the 64th minute to put the Govs ahead for good.

The Anacortes, Washington native’s second and third goals of the season equaled her career in last season’s match against Jacksonville State and helped the 2017 All-Ohio Valley Conference honoree earn her first career adidas® OVC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honor.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Junior quarterback JaVaughn Craig, of the football team, ran for 108 yards and a score and gained another 127 yards for the Govs through the air in Austin Peay’s rain-soaked home-opening win against Presbyterian, Saturday.
  • Junior Alex Vegh, of the men’s golf team, opened his third campaign as a Gov with a top-10 finish at the GolfWeek Program Challenge in Pawley’s Island, South Carolina, carding a 211 (69-71-74) to take 10th. He opened the second round with birdies on four of his first five holes and made birdie on all five par-5 attempts in the final round.
  • Junior Wesley Gray, of the men’s cross country team, posted his season’s first top-10 finish with a 10th-place, 27:14.57 run at the UAH Invitational in Huntsville, Saturday.
  • Junior libero Ginny Gerig, of the volleyball team, earned all-tournament honors at Evansville’s Dunn Hospitality Invitational, posting 21 digs against Northern Kentucky and nine more against the host Purple Aces. In the process, she became the 20th player in Austin Peay history to reach 1,000 career digs.
  • Senior Caroline Kiplagat, of the women’s cross country team, placed ninth at the UAH Invitational with a 20:05.89 mark in the five-kilometer event.
  • Senior wide receiver DJ Montgomery, of the football team, notched career highs in receptions (10) and receiving yards (114), including a career-long 41-yard grab in the third quarter.
