Clarksville, Tenn.–Senior utility player Morgan Rackel, of the Austin Peay State University softball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
After earning two Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week honors this season, Rackel earned her first career Hitter of the Week honor after hitting .462 (6-of-13) with three home runs, a double, five runs scored and nine RBI. She tied the second game against Belmont with a home run and put the Govs ahead for good with her second blast of the contest in the sixth inning.
The Calgary native slashed .462/1.231/.500 for the week, becoming the third player in program history to earn OVC Pitcher and Player of the Week honors from the conference (Lauren de Castro, Natasha Anderson). She was pretty good in the circle as well, winning both starts and tossing a one-hitter against Tennessee State, striking out nine Tigers for her season’s 14th win.
