Clarksville, Tenn. – Senior Shelby Olszewski, of the Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
In two must-win games for Austin Peay last week, Olszewski provided the deciding goal in victories against Eastern Illinois and SIU Edwardsville, keeping the Lady Govs in the hunt for an OVC Tournament berth.
In the Friday night contest against Eastern Illinois, Olszewski scored the opening goal on a rebound from a Nicole Wojcik shot and later assisted on Sophia Fabbro’s 89th-minute goal in the Lady Govs 3-0 win against the Panthers. She followed that with a 57th-minute goal off a McKenzie Dixon corner kick against SIU Edwardsville and later assisted on Courtney Sheppard’s 63rd-minute tally in Sunday’s 2-0 win.
The Pickerington, Ohio native was named adidas®/Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the third weekly conference honor of her career but first Offensive award—she was Defensive Player of the Week twice in 2013.
The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.
Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:
- Sophomore keeper Lindsey Todd, of the soccer team, earned co-Goalkeeper of the Week from the OVC after earning shutouts against Eastern Illinois and SIU Edwardsville, making two saves on the weekend.
- Senior libero April Adams, of the volleyball team, notched her first career OVC co-Defensive Player of the Week honor after leading the Lady Govs with 50 digs (6.25/set) in two matches last week and did not commit a receiving error in 33 attempts.
