Clarksville, Tenn. – Senior sprinter Kymmalett Ross, of the Austin Peay State University track and field team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Ross was immaculate at last weekend’s Thundering Herd Invitational, hosted by Marshall. The senior equaled Erika Adams’ school-record 60m dash with a 7.61 mark, taking runner-up honors in the process, and broke the 200m record less than two hours later with a 24.51 mark that also netted her runner-up honors. Along with senior Breigh Jones and juniors Molly Jordan and Terri Morris, Ross also ran the final leg for APSU’s runner-up 4x400m relay squad (3:51.29).

Ross has become a fixture near the top of the podium in 2016—she’s now earned seven top-three finishes this season as an individual (one in the 55m dash, two in the 60m dash and four in the 200m) and ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference in the 200m dash and third in the 60m.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Freshman Claudia Yanes Garcia and junior Hannah Tatlock, of the women’s tennis team, each won their season-opening singles matches in dominant fashion—Yanes Garcia 6-0, 6-1 against Evansville’s Doreen Crasta at No. 2 singles, Tatlock 6-1, 6-0 against Katie Delgado in the No. 4 slot.
  • Senior guard Tiasha Gray, of the women’s basketball team, averaged 24.0 ppg on 43.2 percent (19-of-44) shooting last week, opening the week with a seven-steal effort against SIUE.
  • Sophomore guard Josh Robinson, of the men’s basketball team, averaged 21.5 ppg on 44.8 percent (13-of-29) shooting in two games last week, including a 30-point outburst in the Govs road win at Southeast Missouri that included a career-high tying seven three-pointers.
