CLARKSVILLE – Austin Peay State University's student-athletes will send 2020 out on a high note. The athletics department's 309 student-athletes combined to post a record 3.326 grade-point average during the Fall 2020 semester – the seventh consecutive semester with a 3.00 GPA or better.

In addition, it is the ninth time in department history its athletes have posted a 3.00 GPA. Moreover, for the third consecutive semester, all 15 varsity programs recorded a 3.0 GPA for the second consecutive semester.

"I cannot put into words how proud I am of our student-athletes, our student-athlete support services staff and our coaches for what they have achieved in the classroom this fall," said Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison. "The fall brought multiple challenges to our doorstep and our student-athletes and department staff navigated those challenges with style and poise befitting a Governor and the 'Total Gov' concept we champion every day."

The department saw 242 student-athletes receive academic recognition during the fall semester, with 124 named to the APSU Athletics Director's Honor Roll and 118 eligible to earn recognition on the Austin Peay Dean's List.

A complete listing of the Fall 2020 Athletics Director's Honor Roll follows this release. Individuals eligible for the Austin Peay Dean's List also are noted.

Established in 1990-91, the Athletics Director's Honor Roll recognizes the outstanding academic accomplishments of Austin Peay State University student-athletes. To earn recognition student-athletes must be enrolled full time and achieve at least a 3.0 grade-point average for a semester.

ACADEMIC HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE FALL 2020 SEMESTER

• PERFECTION: 53 Govs student-athletes – more than 17 percent of all student-athletes – posted a 4.0 GPA.
• ALL ABOARD: The men's golf, women's golf, men's tennis and women's tennis teams saw 100 percent of their student-athletes receive academic recognition during the fall. .
• TOP PERFORMERS: The Governors men tennis teams posted the department's highest team GPA (3.897). Meanwhile, the women's tennis program had the highest women's GPA (3.846).
• STREAKING: The women's soccer, volleyball, women's golf, men's tennis and women's tennis programs have recorded a 3.0 GPA in 15 consecutive semesters. The softball team posted its 11th consecutive semester with a 3.0 GPA and the following teams streaks each continued with this fall's performance: men's cross country (4), women's cross country (5), men's basketball (3), women's basketball (5), baseball (9), football (3), men's golf (9), track & field (5), and beach volleyball (6).
